The Goannas headed out west this week to take on arch rivals Penrith.
The boys were looking for payback after a shock loss to the Rams earlier in the year, but knew beating Penrith at their home ground would be no easy task.
In typically blustery conditions the Goannas got the jump on the Rams early, taking control of the game in the first quarter and opening up a 12 point lead at the first break.
From here the game turned into a real arm wrestle, with Penrith throwing everything at the Goannas to get back in to the game, and the Goannas matching every move.
At half time the margin was 13 points, and at the last change the margin was 12, a sign of the hard fought scrap taking place.
The last quarter saw the Goannas assert their authority when it was needed, and every challenge thrown at them by the Rams was answered as the boys came away with a 16 point win.
Ben Rogers was the standout player on the day with a bag of 5 goals, with Brodie Crane providing excellent support up front.
Jordan Pidgeon and Luke McLeod gave plenty of run and toughness in the middle, while Andrew Munns and Michael Stacey lead the way for the defence.
The Goannas' next game is against the Illawarra Lions on July 19 at Goanna Park (Gipps Road, Greystanes) at 2.30 pm.
