PARRAMATTA hockey players Jade Callender and Hayley Buckley will team up to help their state win a national tournament after the two were selected in NSW Blues under-14s team.
Callender is a striker and will be looking to bag a swag of goals, but she'll need a little help from her midfield teammate.
"Hopefully, I'll be able to set set up a few goals for Jade," Buckley said.
The Parramatta duo will head south in September to take on the best from the ACT and try and beat the Victorians on their home turf.
Callender has the experience of winning a national title last year and said she was looking forward to passing on her knowledge to Buckley and her other teammates.
"It will be a great experience and last year will help because I know what the other players will be like," she said.
"I grew up playing hockey and have been down at the fields since I was born.
"I want to improve my drag flicks and all-round vision. I train six days a week.
"We'll have a strong side and I think we can win it."
Buckley, a Fairfield resident, was thrilled when told she would be joining Callender in the Blues.
"I was excited when I found out I made the team," she said.
"I'd made an indoor state team before but not an outdoor side and they're harder to make."
And like Callender, she's not lacking confidence ahead of her biggest tournament to date.
"It's going to be hard but I think we can win it," Buckley said.
The five-day tournament starts on September 29 in Melbourne at the State Hockey Centre.
