Parramatta’s coolest winter event Winterlight has attracted thousands of visitors to its new location at Prince Alfred Park, with more than 9,000 ticket sales and 20,000 people so far turning up to this year’s event.
Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cr John Chedid, said Parramatta Winterlight is one of the largest events on the City’s event calendar and the new location has provided an opportunity to explore a bigger venue and house Sydney’s largest outdoor ice rink.
“We are thrilled to see an increase in numbers this year. The new venue has allowed for a larger ice rink and means up to 250 people can get their skates on every hour.
“Parramatta Winterlight is a place for families and friends to come together and explore Parramatta in a positive atmosphere. It also provides an opportunity to showcase our City as a leading events destination,” Cr Chedid said.
While the ice rink is the centrepiece of the event, beautiful lighting and décor creates a thriving winter themed alpine village. Revellers have enjoyed the opportunity to take a memorable photo inside the impressive life-size snow globe, while thousands of patrons have enjoyed a glass of mulled wine at the outdoor bar after 5pm.
Parramatta Winterlight runs every day at Prince Alfred Park, 10am till late until 13 July. The ice rink will operate Sunday to Thursday 10am to 9pm and Friday to Saturday 10am to 10pm.
Ticket prices: children under 5 years $10, 5-13 years $16, 14 years and over $20, family pass $58. All prices include free skate hire.
