About 10.20pm on Wednesday 18 June 2014, a female sergeant was patrolling the car park of a shopping centre on Guildford Road when she noticed two men, aged 19 and 22, allegedly acting suspiciously.
The officer commenced a search of the pair and located what was believed to be cannabis in the 19-year-old’s pocket.
The teenager allegedly punched the sergeant as she attempted to arrest him, before the other man allegedly began hitting her.
The men ran from the location and the officer gave chase, but lost sight of them a short time later.
She sustained bruising to her hand, but did not require medical treatment.
Police from Rosehill Local Area Command attended the scene and conducted a search of the area, but could not locate the men.
About 9.50pm last night (Thursday 19 June 2014), a 22-year-old man attended Granville Police Station and was arrested, before being taken to Parramatta Police Station.
About half an hour later, police arrested a 19-year-old man at a home in Guildford and took him to Parramatta Police Station.
It’s further alleged the younger man assaulted a male constable and also made threats to police while in custody.
Both men were charged with assault police in execution of duty, resist arrest, escape police custody, intimidate police, and possess prohibited drug.
They were granted bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 23 July 2014.
