Sydney’s champion trainer Chris Waller will lead the charge on his home track as a race to a $1 million mango and a range of bonuses and discounts for punters during the winter racing season are unveiled at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday.
The Australian Turf Club’s Sydney Markets race day will feature good sized fields across the program – with a healthy TAB quaddie containing 28,392 combinations – and the Waller stable having runners in seven of the eight races.
Waller trained five winners on his home track at Rosehill Gardens two weeks ago and the only race he doesn’t have a runner in on Saturday is race seven, the Million Dollar Mango BM 85 over 1100m.
The race has been named around a promotion by the Your Local Greengrocer chain which is giving any customer who spends more than $30 between now and the end of August at their stores a ticket in a draw which will offer a shot at a $1 million mango prize at Sydney Markets Mango Auction on 3 September.
It comes as Sydney punters – including general admission customers and Australian Turf Club Members – are treated to a range of discounts on food, drinks and exclusive double Tab Reward points every Saturday on track.
Among the benefits to punters on track at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday are:
Super Saver - $45 of value for $20: Pre-Purchase via Ticketek at www.theraces.com.au and receive racecourse entry, a standard drink voucher, a Vili’s Pie, racebook and free entry to another winter race meeting of your choice
Beer at Pub prices: $5 tap beers all day at the Winners Circle bar in the public area and the Cotton Fingers bar in the Members area
Double TAB Rewards: Exclusive to winter racing in Sydney, TAB Reward customers will receive DOUBLE reward points for all bets placed through an EBT on track
Family activities: Family tours at 12 noon and 2pm with a gift for each child who attends, and the chance to get up close with thoroughbred horses
Extra winter buffets: For Members and general admission punters offering hearty three course meals in the Baguette Room at Rosehill Gardens
Tooheys New Tipping: Free tipping competition exclusive to patrons on course with a Go Pro, Makita Radio, Tooheys New Eskys and meat trays up for grabs every week
Australian Turf Club General Manager of Commercial and Membership Rohan Sawyer said: “We recognise pubs and clubs are where people often go to watch the races and the football in the winter months. They are attractive and familiar to punters so we are aiming to better compete for their attendance.’’
All of the winter racing offers will be available to general admission punters and Australian Turf Club Members at Rosehill Gardens and Royal Randwick every Saturday until August 2.
Among the Chris Waller runners on Saturday are Amovatio in the Eric Kime BM 75 ($3.80 TAB Fixed Odds),
Sniper Fire in the Freshworld 2YO Plate ($3.20 TAB Fixed Odds), Mamwaazel in the Sydney Markets Foundation BM 75 ($8 Tab Fixed Odds) and Tromso in the first leg of the TAB Quaddie, the Sydney Markets Ltd Hcp, ($7 Tab Fixed Odds).
Each of those runners all won at Rosehill Gardens two weeks ago, and will be looking to add to the champion trainer’s $20 million-plus stable prizemoney haul across the Australian racing season.
Warwick Farm trainer Jason Coyle saddles up the favourite in the first leg of the quaddie, Scream Machine ($3.50 TAB Fixed Odds), who comes off a last start sixth in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 in Brisbane.
All of the action from the Brisbane Winter Carnival – along with races from Melbourne – will be televised on the largest screen in the southern Hemisphere at Rosehill Gardens in the infield.
Rosehill Gardens features free high capacity WiFi across the whole racecourse precinct, along with free parking at the racecourse.
