Woolworths manager's 1000km walk

David Bryant, a Woolworths store manager, is a man on a one month and 1000 kilometre mission.

Mr Bryant has walked from his home town in Armidale to Coffs Harbour, then all the way to Sydney’s Norwest, while visiting local Woolworths stores ‘hat-in-hand’ along the way to raise funds for local kids in need and Variety – the Children’s Charity.

Bryant, the philanthropic charity walker and manager of Lake Cathie Woolworths, set an ambitious goal to fundraise a ‘Million in a Month’ drawing on the support of his family, friends, team mates and generous community supporters in NSW and the ACT Woolworths stores.

Starting on May 12, he finished his journey on June 6 after visiting almost 50 Woolworths stores in 25 days to raise funds for Variety kids who are sick, disadvantaged or have special needs.

“I really wanted to be a better husband, a better father and a better leader and more importantly what could I do to make my family, the community and my workplace proud," Bryant said.

"It had to be big, had to be charitable and it had to be all inclusive. Thus, the idea for my 1000km walk for Variety was born.”
