TRAMPOLINE play centres have kids jumping for joy everywhere, but did you know they offer fitness classes for adults?
With names like trampfit and airobics, theses classes are rapidly becoming a hit due to the high calorie burn and low impact, making them suitable for a huge range of people.
"Most people get the hang of it in about three or four sessions."
- SIMON BRYCE
I've done the odd home workout on the mini trampoline, but was a bit worried about entering an arena with more than 1000 square metres of interconnected trampolines.
But instructor Simon Bryce, from Boing Central in Baulkham Hills, assured me I needn't worry.
"About 90 per cent of people come from a non-training stage," he said.
Boing Central's 45-minute class is divided into a warm-up, jumps and core exercises on the trampolines, a partnered boxing set on a flat surface and a cool down on the trampolines.
I exercise twice a week but was out of breath for about a third of the lesson, but Mr Bryce said: "Most people get the hang of it in about three or four sessions."
Schofields resident Kim Taylon came from a boot camp background and loves the novelty factor of the trampoline.
"It's something different and it's good fun," she said.
Boing Central has trampfit classes and dodgeball on trampolines. Children jump in the toddler area for $5 when accompanying a parent taking a class.
