The Goannas travelled to Olds Park looking to bounce back from their loss last week when they took on St George.
History showed this would be a hard fought affair and it certainly proved to be just that, with St George just edging ahead at the end of the first quarter.
An excellent display from the Goannas in the second quarter saw them take control of the game, kicking 4 goals to 2 to take a narrow half time lead.
The third quarter saw the momentum swing again, with St George gaining the upper hand and at the start of the last quarter, the home team was 9 points up and had the game in their hands.
With their co-captain Josh Terrey out of the game with a broken collarbone, it was going to take a gutsy effort for the Goannas to get the victory, but this is exactly what they produced, rallying together and securing a fantastic win by 7 points.
Arin Rickett lead the way with a best on ground performance in the midfield, with Brodie Crane and Taigen Dubbelde giving plenty of support. Scott Maguire was outstanding in the ruck, while Trent Schmutter and John Maniscalco were strong in defence.
The Goannas' next game is against Balmain on Saturday May 17 at Goanna Park (Gipps Road, Greystanes) at 2.00 pm.
