Illusionist Cosentino will be making magic in Parramatta this Thursday, May 8.
Between 3pm-4.30pm he will roam the areas of Church Street Mall, Prince Alfred Park and Parramatta train station to show his skills in levitation, magic and telekinesis (the art of moving things with the power of the mind).
His Parramatta appearance will follow a “dramatic” free stunt in Martin Place on Thursday morning depicting a smoker’s struggle with cravings.
In order to draw attention to world No Tobacco Day on May 31 Cosentino spent six months rehearsing for the stunt which involves fire, a wooden crate, chains, an eight-metre drop and rows of flaming sharp spikes.
Cosentino, who was named international magician of the year in 2013, said preparing for the stunt was mentally and physically challenging.
“Because I’ve never been a smoker, I reflected quite a lot on the personal challenges I’ve had in my life,” he said.
“When I look back at all the times I’ve had doors slammed in my face, I started to grasp how tough the quitting journey can be.
“And now, after going through the process of developing this performance, I have even more empathy and respect for people trying to kick the enormous hurdle of nicotine addiction.”
● Cosentino’s Martin Place stunt will be broadcast live on Sunrise on May 8 at 8am.
