Celebrities bring skills with food and fitness

LIVE a healthier life at the Good Life Festival at Holroyd Gardens on Saturday, April 5.

Better Homes and Gardens chef Fast Eddy aka Ed Halmagyi will whip up healthy meals and Biggest Loser trainer Shannan Ponton will show you how to stay motivated and fit.

There will also be performances, activities, children's rides and fireworks.

Foodies can experience new cuisines, learn new recipes and shop at the farmers' markets.

Fitness fanatics and anyone else who wants to focus on their health can check their stats, pick up the latest fitness gear and get tips from professionals.

Giving people information and tools to make changes in their lives is essential, says celebrity trainer Shannan Ponton.

"Everyone can lose weight and reclaim their health and happiness if they decide to make some changes," Ponton said.

"With fitness and health being part of my life since I was a kid, I can't wait to set the record straight with all the misinformation running around out there.

"I'll be aiming to inspire and empower participants with the correct information, and I will explain my thoughts by sharing plenty of funny stories."

Holroyd mayor Nasr Kafrouni said the festival will be the place for good food, great shopping and fun ways to keep active with family and friends.

"We want to see the festival bring together Holroyd locals, neighbours from surrounding suburbs and visitors from all over the west who love their food and being active," Cr Kafrouni said.

"Our commitment is to deliver on providing the city with a wide range of options so that they can keep active and enjoy healthy living in Holroyd.

"Whether that's by eating more fresh fruits and vegetables, or giving new types of exercise a go, we hope that the festival gives people the opportunity to think about how they can improve their life and live well."

The night will also feature vibrant live performances from Arabian, Indian and Chinese dancers on the main stage and conclude with a spectacular fireworks display.

Fashionistas can grab a bargain at the boutique market stalls and there will rides and fun activities for all the family.
