Julian Maroun could be set for stardom, thanks to Doris Younane's teaching.
Mr Maroun, 20, started acting classes at Younane's West Side Actors Studio in Parramatta over a year ago and has already landed a role in a multi-million-dollar feature film.
He has also scored an agent from Creative Representation which looks after well-known actors including Mandy McElhinney, currently on the TV series Love Child.
"I was having to go to the city for classes and to be honest people were looking at their watch the whole time," Mr Maroun said. "A lot of people this way were looking for somewhere to go and I finally found somewhere that was local.
"When Doris and West Side Actors Studio came about, I was finally able to cultivate an appreciation for the craft and be able to be myself on screen."
Apart from teaching students acting skills, Younane brings top actors and directors to the studios to critique students' work.
Underbelly director Peter Andrikidis came to the studios and Mr Maroun was one student he gave a tick of approval to. "I had his referral which was a big help for when I had to sit in front of the Creative Representation team. They looked at my stuff and I was taken on by them. From there I was getting access to auditions and that's when everything started."
Five more of Younane's students recently scored acting jobs.
