March for safe drinking water

Sydney Water staff marched from their headquarters to Parramatta Park today to support the provision of clean drinking water in disadvantaged communities cross the globe.

About 75 Sydney Water staff committed to walking the 10,000 steps support the WaterAid campaign from 12pm.

WaterAid’s Walk 4 Water raises money for the 768 million people in the world who don’t have access to clean, safe water.

Sydney Water’s managing director Kevin Young said about $8000 was raised during last year’s walk and staff hoped to raise even more this year.

“It is a testament to the generosity of our staff to commit to helping those who do not have access to clean, safe drinking water and proper sanitation, something that we all take for granted”, Mr Young said.

WaterAid is a charity that works in 26 countries worldwide, transforming millions of lives by helping communities to build and maintain safe water and sanitation projects and though community education programs about good hygiene practices.
