A-League superstar Shinji Ono will be recognised for his contribution to western Sydney during a special event at Parramatta’s Pirtek Stadium at 12pm today.
Parramatta mayor John Chedid said Shinji Ono’s contribution to football in western Sydney and his popularity with fans has made him a “community hero”.
"Ono's signing was a major coup for the Wanderers, helping raise the profile of the team and Parramatta. He's a true ambassador for our city who has had a huge influence on fans, businesses and the local community, Cr Chedid said.
“The local community has taken great pride in the Wanderers and Shinji. This award seeks to thank him for his dedication to the sport and western Sydney,” Cr Chedid said.
"Council would like to wish Shinji great success in his return to Japan and will forever remember his talents both on and off the field.”
