Teen charged after alleged assault of taxi driver

A teenager allegedly assaulted a taxi driver and refused to pay his fare today after he asked to travel to Parramatta today.

About 3am this morning, a 17-year-old male hailed a taxi on George Street, Sydney and asked the 32-year-old driver to take him to Lidcombe.

Once at Lidcombe, the teenager asked to continue to Parramatta.

When the driver asked for the fare before continuing to Parramatta, the teenager allegedly refused, assaulted the man and left the car.

Police located him a short distance away at Lidcombe train station. He was charged with assault with intent to rob and hirer not pay authorised fare on termination of hiring.

The teen was refused bail and will appear in court today.
