WHILE celebrities and fashionistas flitted to France for Paris Fashion Week, Parramatta shoppers witnessed a show of high fashion closer to home.
Westfield Parramatta launched its autumn and winter fashion season with a runway event on Saturday.
Popular trends were strutted down the centre’s makeshift catwalk including sports luxe, punk, winter white, boy meets girl and film noir glamour.
‘‘The punk trend includes leather and leopard prints. It’s more nineties-inspired jeans and distressed denim,’’ Westfield’s resident stylist Hayley Cooper said.
‘‘There are lots of metal accessories like studded and chain bags and studded earrings. Statement cuffs are also in.
‘‘Winter whites doesn’t lead to wearing all white. It can include a white blazer, white tailored pants and or white jeans.
‘‘Boy meets girl style has a lot of tailored looks. It has a lot of black and white and stripe print.
‘‘Film noir glamour is a new trend for this season. It is very tailored. I would say the fitting starts from your belly button all the way down to your knee. From the knee it flares out.
‘‘Sports luxe again is white leather.’’
Ms Cooper said trends would suit most tastes.
‘‘They are quite easy to wear,’’ she said.
‘‘There is a wide range of styles available.
‘‘I think people will really enjoy film noir glamour. I think it’s a trend which will continue into next season.’’
