A NEW 12 kilometre pathway to connect Westmead to Meadowbank Construction has started to complete an off-road pathway between Westmead and Meadowbank.
Two of the last missing links - the Lennox Bridge and the Baludarri Wetlands - will be connected to existing paths over the next 12 months.
The Lennox Bridge connection involves the construction of two architecturally designed portals through the bridge.
The second project, the 750m Baludarri Pathway, is being constructed over the Baludarri Wetlands allowing more people to visit and enjoy the river foreshore.
When complete, the 12 kilometre pathway will link Westmead, Parramatta Park, Parramatta CBD, Sydney Olympic Park and Meadowbank.
The pathway will allow pedestrians and cyclists to walk or ride continuously along the river foreshore to nearby suburbs.
Lord Mayor of Parramatta, Cr John Chedid, said this was one of the most exciting projects taking place in Parramatta this year.
"The Parramatta City Centre is unique because it's the only major CBD within Sydney that is located on the riverfront," Cr Chedid said.
"We're determined to maximise the city's unique river location, and improving access to the river foreshore is critical to attracting more people and investment to Parramatta.
"Providing better links will also give people access to employment, services and recreational opportunities and improve amenity and convenience for commuters."
