Granville Mardi Gras marchers are living on a prayer

''BE you, be justice'', are just some of the slogans Granville resident Stuart Sutherland will chant at tomorrow's Mardi Gras Parade.

Mr Sutherland and partner Michael have helped to organise a float and will march for the first time as part of the Metropolitan Community Church, Good Sheperd in Granville.

"We just want to gain awareness of big issues such as same sex marriage and discrimination that many queer people face everyday," Mr Sutherland said.

''God loves us equally and we want people to just come as they are to our community church."

The only ''queer church'' in western Sydney offers services, ''queer congregations'' and interprets the bible in a new way.

About 30 people from all over Sydney will take part in the Living on a prayer themed float, holding signs and chanting slogans.
