A police officer was dragged 25 metres during an attempted arrest in Harris Park on Monday.
Police say the male senior constable stopped a late-90s model blue-and-silver Toyota Prado in Wigram Street, Harris Park, just before 9am after it allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign.
The officer, who was attached to Parramatta Highway Patrol, approached the driver, who allegedly refused to produce his driver’s licence, or hand over his car keys.
The officer opened the door and informed the man he was under arrest.
It’s alleged the driver then started the car and drove off at a speed of about 20km/h, dragging the officer 25 metres.
When he released his grip, the officer fell to the ground, suffering grazes to his right arm and left palm.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and now wish to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
The man is described as being of Caucasian appearance, aged 40 to 50, with an obese build and grey beard. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a fluorescent-yellow work shirt.
