A man will appear in court today after being detected allegedly indecently filming several women in a shopping centre at Parramatta yesterday.
Shortly after 12.30pm on Thursday, Parramatta police were called to a local shopping centre after a man was detained by security guards.
The officers were told that the man was observed to be acting suspiciously by a member of the public who informed security officers.
Police will allege that the man was in possession of a mobile phone with a camera and a back pack. The man was observed to travel up and down the escalators of the shopping centre allegedly recording women.
Officers arrested the man and conveyed him to Parramatta Police Station.
After examining the phone, police located 16 separate recordings which depicted footage taken of women.
It is believed that some footage had been recorded earlier yesterday, and other material in recent weeks.
The 25-year-old Dutch National was charged with film person’s private parts without consent.
The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today.
