Concert to aid typhoon victims

Entire cities and villages didn't stand a chance when Typhoon Haiyan slammed into the central Philippines in November.

Millions of people fled to higher ground as ferocious winds crumpled buildings and rising water swept everything in its path away.

The huge storm was recorded as one of the strongest typhoons to hit the Philippines.

More than 5000 people died and the death toll continues to rise.

Millions of survivors are seeking refuge in shelters, stadiums, churches or living in makeshift homes on the streets.

To help raise much needed funds for victims, former Miss Philippines-Australia Charity Queen 2009 Aprille Lim along with Parramatta Council, the Australian Red Cross and The Consul General of the Philippines will hold The Philippine Typhoon Christmas Benefit at Riverside Theatres on Thursday, December 12, at 7.30pm.

The red carpet event will include performances by top music acts, there will be aerial acrobatics, a runway fashion show and much more.

Ms Lim said she hopes to raise $50,000 for the Australian Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan Appeal.

Tickets: Pre-sale $50, at the door $70.
