Police have warned of a possible ‘‘peeping Tom’’ on the prowl after a woman was startled to see a camera at her window while she showered.
Detective Inspector David Jones from Holroyd police said the woman noticed the camera at the window of her Valerie Street, South Wentworthville, home about 9.30pm on Saturday, while she was showering.
‘‘All she saw was a pole with a camera on top,’’ Inspector Jones said.
‘‘She said it looked like an iPhone or something similar, and when she saw the movement at the window she yelled out and whoever was there has run off.’’
Inspector Jones said the woman lived at the home with her children and that it was possible the offender had followed her home or knew her.
He said the bathroom was on the second storey of the home, so some effort had gone into filming through the window.
It was the first incident of its kind reported in the command Inspector Jones said, and no description of the offender was given.
Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the area around the time of the incident can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
