Patients at The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre in Westmead were thrilled to receive a surprise floral donation from the princess on Monday.
The Danish Crown Princess Mary arranged for 12 bunches of flowers originally given to her by Sydney fans to be delivered to the centre.
‘‘When the flower delivery arrived, there were cheers from the patients,’’ Sydney west cancer network director Paul Harnett said.
‘‘It really gave them a lift.
“On behalf of The Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre, thank you Crown Princess Mary for thinking of us and making our patients smile.’’In 2011, the Westmead Cancer Centre was renamed after the Princess of Denmark.
The centre is an integrated comprehensive cancer service for a population of over one million people in western Sydney, associate professor Harnett said.
