PARRAMATTA'S Fire and Rescue crews remain on hand at their Harris Park station to deal with any local emergencies.
Station Inspector Craig Easy said it was possible they could be deployed to the Blue Mountains if needed.
"They have been up the mountains once, on October 21," he said. "They were part of strike team Foxtrot and were in Springwood from 10.30am to 9.30pm backburning and patrolling the area.
"We inspectors at Parramatta have been busy leading strike teams in the mountains over the past several days.
"We've been there virtually every day and night since last Thursday."
Inspector Easy said strike teams comprised four pumpers (crews with pumper trucks) and a strike leader.
"They're then deployed to do various tasks such as fire fighting, mopping up, asset protection and assisting with backburning," he said. "We also like to get crews moving around the area to reassure residents that help is at hand."
■ Parramatta Fire and Rescue crews have been kept busy with many building and house fires in the past week including:
A timber-mill fire at Sefton;
Several house fires; and
