A teenager has been charged after a fire was allegedly deliberately lit, forcing evacuations in Northmead on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to Backhousia Reserve to reports a fire was burning between Greygum Terrace and Edison Parade bout 1.30pm.
Parramatta Police evacuated between 12 and 15 residents from homes nearby as a precaution.
The fire was contained about 3pm and residents were allowed home.
A15-year-old boy was arrested at a home in Winston Hills after investigations.
He was taken to Parramatta Police Station where he was charged with intentionally cause fire and be reckless as to its spread.
The youth was conditionally bailed to appear in court on December 2.
