For many of us, the most unusual or exquisite items of clothing or accessories found at op-shops or vintage stores has become the season’s fashion must have.
Although these stores stock distinctive pieces from the past, not all the clothes or accessories on sale suit or fit well on our bodies.
To help make retro fashion look modern, designer Delia Puiatti of independent label Unknown Quantity adds her own innovative touch to create new and unique looks.
‘‘The focus of my label is sustainability,’’ Ms Puiatti said.
‘‘Vintage material is so distinctive.
‘‘By using vintage materials I get more of a unique design in my collection and keeping it sustainable as well.’’
With more than 10 years of industry experience behind her Puiatti opened the Pop Up Parramatta store, The Infinite Everything, in Parramatta last year.
The store stocks her independent label along with other designers’ clothing, accessories, artwork and repurposed objects.
Puiatti will now show her designs in the RAW Natural Born Artists show on Wednesday at 7pm, at The Roxy, in Parramatta.
Her designs will be showcased in a catwalk event.
Ms Puiatti said the event allowed emerging artists to showcase their skills in the arts.
‘‘It’s good that there is an event that allows people to experience the arts,’’ she said.
‘‘It’s good that there is an organisation that is scouting underground artists.’’
