Pastels, spring florals and eye-catching millinery will be all the rage at this weekend's Ladies Day featuring the Stan Fox Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.
On Saturday, the program features a fashion competition with $15,000 worth of prizes on offer, complimentary make-up touch-ups in the Emeri Sparkling Pamper Lounge, an official AFL grand final live site and the Group 2 race for three-year-olds at set weights, the Stan Fox Stakes.
Australian Turf Club ambassador and TV presenter Sophie Falkiner will be trackside on the day.
She said the day wasn't only for women but also for men.
"Wherever there are gorgeous girls there will always be nice men around," Falkiner said.
"Men are always welcome and looking dapper might I add."
Falkiner's fashion advice for the carnival includes pastels and classic floral prints.
"It's all about elegance and sophistication this season," she said.
"Looking forward to lots of beautiful tailoring.
"There is a bit of Japanese influence to it.
"We are seeing lots of straw in different fascinators."
Falkiner said her race-day essentials included a "fabulous outfit".
"I normally pick my dress and work around with my fascinator and accessories from there," she said.
"You need to have immaculate hair and great make-up throughout the day.
"You need to have a good base, make sure that your make-up isn't melting and you wear sunscreen because it can be very hot out there during the day.
"Go easy with the spray tan. It's nice to look healthy but don't go as far as looking like a tandoori chicken.
"Also when I go out there, I like to have my friends with me, a nice glass of bubbles and a hot tip for the day and my hot tip for the Stan Fox Stakes is a Gai Waterhouse trained horse and that is Aussies Love Sport."
