Australians are being urged to include their favourite charities in their wills for Include a Charity Week this week.
More than 140 Australian charities are behind the Include a Charity organisation, including those that raise money for cancer, museums, animals and many more.
Board member Ross Anderson said Australia is one of the most charitable nations in the world, with three out of four Australians supporting charities in their lifetime.
"However, only 7.5% of Australians leave a charitable gift in their Will," Mr Anderson said.
Include a Charity Week — which was launched on Monday at Taronga Zoo — aims to increase that percentage.
"Every bequest gift, whether it is big or small, is an immense help to charities and will assist us to achieve our goal of increasing the proportion of Australians who include a charitable bequest gift in their Will from 7.5% to 12%," Mr Anderson said.
"It’s not a huge increase, but if we get to that figure, Australians will raise a staggering $440 million more for their favourite charities to direct towards their good causes and great work."
The campaign finishes this Sunday, September 22.
