The Parramatta Motor Registry at 27-31 Argyle Street will close this Saturday for two weeks while it is upgraded to a one stop government service centre.
Service NSW deputy chief executive Steve Griffin said the closure would allow Service NSW — a state government initiative to improve and simplify services — to complete minor renovations and install new technology.
Residents and businesses will be able to complete a number of NSW government transactions at the centre, including driver licence and vehicle registration renewals, boating licences, applications for birth certificates and owner builder permits.
“At the service centres, customers are greeted by concierges who will check they have the appropriate paperwork filled out and advise customers of wait times," Mr Griffin said.
"Customers can make appointments to come back or carry out transactions at the self-service kiosks in the centre," he said.
"After the service centre reopens, Service NSW will continue to add new services and upgrade features to provide the Parramatta community with a brand new customer service experience."
Mr Griffin also said the number of customer service representatives has doubled from 14 to 30 to cater for the centre's extended hours during weekdays and Saturdays.
“Combined with the jobs created at the new Service NSW contact centre established at the Eclipse Building at Parramatta in late August, this is good news for jobs in western Sydney.”
Mr Griffin said he was confident customers would be happy with the new Parramatta service centre which will open on Tuesday, October 7 at 7am.
"There are four service centres now up and running across the State in Kiama, Tweed Heads, Haymarket in the Sydney CBD and Orange and early customer feedback has been extremely positive," he said.
The Fair Trading counter at 1 Fitzwilliam Street will close as those services will be provided at the new service centre.
