The Sun's sportsperson of the week is Rebecca Ibrahim who plays for Regents Park Netball Club under the Parramatta Auburn Netball Association.
What's your favourite sport?
Netball is definitely my favourite sport.
How often do you play or practice?
During the season I play for my club team every Saturday morning and then for my rep team every Saturday afternoon. I would train twice a week, consisting of one rep training session and one club training session. When we are early on in the rep season we would train twice a week, with one training session for fitness and the other for skills and court work.
What's your greatest achievement so far?
I have had a lot of great moments so far throughout playing netball, one of which being co-captain of my representative side for three years which was a great honour to be seen in such a way by my team mates. Especially having, alongside my co-captain, come sixth at state age this year for our final year in reps. Another great achievement for me would be receiving sports girl nominee in 2010 and MVP (most valuable player) in 2011. When receiving awards such as these from your association and coaches it proves that all the hard work and dedication pays off and to be given that kind of gratitude is amazing.
What do you hope to achieve?
I would absolutely love if I could take my netball career further and continue to develop my skills as a player. To do this I am going to continue to trial for every possible opportunity I am given and see where they go. My dream would be to one day represent my state or even Australia in netball.
