Wenty down Sharks
Wentworthville stunned leaders Cronulla 32-12 at Ringrose Park on Sunday to book a place in the NSW Cup finals. A first-half hat-trick to Daniel Harrison helped up-stage the minor premiers Cronulla. The Sharks were rocked in their final match before the finals by a physical and determined which Wenty led 18-6 at half-time. Wenty will play the Illawarra Cutters at WIN Stadium this Friday night in a match that will have no bearing on the finals. Wenty can only finish seventh or eighth and will play a sudden-death match the weekend after, regardless of the result. Wenty were surprise 28-14 losers to the Guildford Owls in the Ron Massey Cup final round on Sunday. The finished third and will host second-placed Mounties at Ringrose Park on Saturday.
Bats beat Goannas
The Holroyd Goannas kicked off their Sydney suburban Australian football campaign on the weekend. An epic battle with the Bats saw the Goannas lose 8.13 (61) to 7.15 (57).
The Goannas will now take on UNSW/ES in a knockout semi-final this Sunday.
Rats take out Parra
The Warringah Ratettes beat an injury-depleted Parramatta 20-11 in the grand final of the Sydney women's rugby union premiership on Saturday. .
