Sportsperson of the week Charles Bloeman, who plays basketball for the Parramatta Wildcats, answered our questions about his sport, success and dreams.
What’s you favourite sport?
Without a doubt basketball! This has formed a large part of my life since the age of nine and has always been my driving passion.
How often do you play or practise?
I have just finished my 17th representative season under the Australian Basketball Association where I have played in the Big V / Waratah & SEABL conferences since the age of 17. I currently compete once a week in the ABA Waratah League (NSW) which requires two training sessions per week.
What’s your greatest achievement so far?
One of my more recent achievements was winning the Australian Basketball Championship with the Parramatta Wildcats in 2009.
What do you hope to achieve?
Basketball has certainly formed a huge part of my life for the last 27 years which has assisted with personal development helping me with self confidence, the ability to work within a team environment and additionally given me leadership skills. Now in the latter years of my career basketball gives me the opportunity to remain fit and active as well as satisfy that competitive drive. For me Basketball is a passion that will always be a large part of my life and is an outlet that cannot be replicated.
