Trio follow in greats' footsteps

THREE Parramatta Eels youngsters will trade the blue and gold for the green and gold after they were selected in the 2013 Australian Schoolboys team.

SG Ball representatives Tyrell Fuimaono, Nathan Davis and Joey Lussick were selected in the schoolboys squad for a tour of New Zealand later in the year.

It comes off the back of impressive performances at the under 18s Australian Secondary School Rugby League Championships in Cairns last week.

It was a double celebration for talented three quarter Davis as the NSW Combined High Schools defeated Queensland 26-22 in the final.

For Lussick, younger brother of first grade star Darcy, it was the hooker's second green and gold accolade, having made the Australian schoolboys rugby union team.

Selection caps off a memorable month for Fuimaono who was part of the successful NSW under 18s team and in the process became the first student from the Aboriginal Australian School to Work program to be selected in a representative side. The Patrician Brothers College Blacktown student is also eligible for the team next year.

The trio follow in the footsteps of several Eels greats who made the Australian schoolboys, including Tim Mannah (2006) and Nathan Cayless (1995). They will play two Tests against New Zealand on September 30 and October 5.
