A Tamil youth group is holding a protest in Parramatta's Price Alfred park to highlight the war crimes and crimes against humanity committed by the Sri Lankan armed forces.
The group are fasting to support the thousands of Tamil students who are protesting in Tamil Nadu, India.
A flyer handed out by the group says that thousands of students are protesting to urge India to move a resolution in the UNHCR meeting in Geneva against Sri Lanka's war crimes.
The students have specifically demanded that the ongoing systemic oppression and genocide of the Eelam Tamil people be thoroughly investigated.
The Australian group supports their demands which include: a UN-monitored independent international inquiry into the war crimes, a UN-led referendum for an independent Tamil homeland and economic sanctions to be imposed against Sri Lanka.
