Two men assaulted in Pendle Hill and Westmead

Police are appealing for information following the assault and robbery of two men in Pendle Hill and Westmead yesterday.

About 8.45pm, Wednesday, March 13, a 19-year-old man was walking north along Pendle Way, Pendle Hill when he was approached from behind.

Police said the man was thrown to the ground and assaulted by two men who punched him a number of times before stealing his mobile phone.

His attackers fled the area and were last seen running east along Dunmore Street.

In another incident, about 10.15pm yesterday, a 28-year-old man was walking along Pye Street, Westmead when he was approached by two men.

Police said he was forced to the ground and punched several times. The man screamed out for help scaring off his attackers who ran down Hassall Street.

A member of the public came to his aid and chased the pair into Parramatta Park before losing sight of them.

The injured man was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment of facial injuries.

Holroyd detectives are investigating both matters and believe they may be linked.

They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assaults or has information about the identity and whereabouts of the two men to contact Merrylands police via Crime Stoppers, 1800 333 000.
