An alleged high-ranking member of the Comanchero bikie gang will appear in Parramatta Local Court after being charged with consorting.
Police said officers attached to Strike Force Alistair searched a home at Greystanes on Tuesday.
Following the search warrant, a 34-year-old man was charged by detectives from the Gangs Squad’s Strike Force Raptor with habitually consort with convicted offender after warning.
He will appear Parramatta Local Court on May 2.
Amendments to the Crimes Act 1900, passed by NSW Parliament on 9 April 2012, make it an offence to “habitually consort” with people who have been convicted of an indictable offence.
The new legislation is being used by State Crime Command’s Gangs Squad as a proactive strategy in combating OMCG-related organised crime.
Since the introduction of the legislation, police have issued consorting warnings to numerous OMCG members and associates.
