Golden Slipper festival highly anticipated by racing greats at Rosehill Gardens

THE multi-million dollar Golden Slipper festival starts on March 23 at Rosehill Gardens.

There will be three consecutive Saturday meetings culminating in the Golden Slipper on April 6.

The $600,000 Group 1 Coolmore Classic (1500m) and $400,000 Group 1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) will be the highlights on March 23 — ladies' day.

March 30 will feature the $500,000 Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m) for three-year-olds, and April 6 the $3.5 million Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m), the world's richest race for two-year-olds.

Since the great Todman won the first Golden Slipper in 1957, the race has been woven into the fabric of the Australian turf.

General admission tickets for adults are $50.

Return buses run from the Hills districts for $15 and bookings are essential.
