Members of Parramatta Climate Action Network has presented Parramatta MP Julie Owens with the Call to County manifesto scroll as part of the Lock the Gate Call to Country campaign.
Lock the Gate campaigners have handed the manifesto to all federal MPs across Australia as part of the action.
The document contains eight suggested actions which the group would like to see the federal government implement.
A ParraCAN spokeswoman said the actions would "protect our air, water and land from pollution caused by coal seam gas and mining".
The first of these actions is to put in place an urgent moratorium on coal seam gas and other unconventional gas mining, using the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 until a rigorous scientific research program has been completed into its impacts on human health, water resources and the environment.
A spokeswoman said : "we understand that the state government has given approval to Dart Energy for gas exploration under most of Sydney including Parramatta LGA".
"In particular we understand that approval was to be given for gas exploration at Eastern Creek and the Prospect Hill area," she said.
"We challenge the state government to extend the ban on CSG (up to two kilometres from residences) to the end of their term of government.
"If the federal government imposed this moratorium we would have much greater certainty that the state government would not drop the ban after the federal election.
"We urged Ms Owens to support this action."
