Man charged over hindering investigation into death of Thomas Kelly

An 18-year-old male has been charged with hindering an investigation and other offences by detectives investigating the death of Thomas Kelly.

Thomas Kelly, 18 died after being king hit while on a night out at Kings Cross on Saturday, July 7, 2012.

A former Kings School student, Kelly was in his first year of university.

Strike Force Mohawk including detectives from the Homicide Squad and Kings Cross police has been investigating the death.

Earlier today, an 18-year-old man was arrested by police from Kings Cross and charged with perverting the course of justice, hindering an investigation, common assault and stealing.

He was been granted conditional bail to appear at Bidura Children’s Court on Tuesday, March 26.

Police will allege the teenager provided false information to police during their investigations into Mr Kelly’s death.

They will also allege that he was involved in an assault upon a man in Kings Cross the same night as Mr Kelly’s death, and also stole an item from a fast food outlet.

Another man remains before the court, charged with the murder of Kelly.
