Carlingford fire uncovers drug lab

A fire in Carlingford uncovered a suspected drug lab last night.

Police and NSW Fire and Rescue crews uncovered a suspected hydroponic set up in a home on Bettington Road about 7.30pm.

Police said a large amount of cannabis plants were found inside the home when they inspected it. 

A storage area underneath  revealed an elaborate hydroponic set up with more plants.

The fire has been extinguished and police will remain on scene overnight until the arrival of specialist officers who will forensically examine the scene.

Witnesses have told police they saw a woman leaving the vicinity of the home in a dark gray BMW sedan, and a man leave in a gray Toyota Hilux utility. 

The vehicles were headed towards Felton Road.
