JOIN the Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Lion, Dorothy and her little dog Toto on their magical journey in The Wizard of Oz.
The Parramatta Riverside Theatre show features a star studded line-up including Luke Joslin as the Tin Man, Adam Scicluna as the Lion and Laura Murphy as Dorothy.
It also includes 150 local school students as the Munchkins and a cast of 60 adults.
Assistant director Jordan Vassallo said the aim of the production was to bring audiences into the world of Oz.
"It's a massive production," he said.
"We have eight-metre tall sets and bright costumes and we are working with professional actors."
This theatre production is based on a 1939 movie.
"What we are trying to do is to not have actors to copy characters but to interpret the role of the character," Mr Vassallo said.
"We have been working on our own interpretation of the story and to run it and really develop it to a new level."
The film was based on a 1900 children's book. Mr Vassallo said the story was still relevant today.
"To make it more contemporary we are putting in actors from today which allows them to relate to the audience," he said."The story shows that life can throw unexpected events or situations at you.
"It shows there are people that may not be nice or people who are very nice and who want to do everything they can to help you."
