Hundreds of people turned out for the Rediscover the River event on the banks of Parramatta River last week.
Lord mayor John Chedid said he wanted the festival to show people how the river foreshore could be used as a place of leisure.
The festival was organised just a few days after Cr Chedid announced a trial program that will see row boats and paddle craft hired for use on the river.
“I’m very excited about having row boats back on our River. We haven’t seen any recreational rowing in this part of the river since our colonial days,” he said.
The festival included sports, music and rowing on the river.
