A Merrylands man, 24, has been charged with 13 offences, including for alleged possession of drugs, a knife and firearm, after having an epileptic fit as police questioned him.
Police allege the man made an illegal right-hand turn from Pitt Street into Sheffield Street, Merrylands, and was then detected driving an unregistered and uninsured car.
The officers chased the accused to a home in Sheffield Street and discovered he was also unlicensed and recently released from jail.
Police allege they found the driver in possession of an illegal knife as well as nine bags containing a substances suspected to be the drug ice.
While being told by police that he was under arrest, the accused had an epileptic fit. Police said the man's sister heard the commotion and came out from the home.
She is alleged to have told the officers her brother had medication in the garage where he had been living.
Police allege that while searching for the medication they found a firearm and more drugs, including cannabis and tablets.
The man was taken by ambulance to Westmead Hospital under police guard but released after a few hours.
He was charged with 13 offences, including possession of an illegal firearm, possession of an illegal weapon, supplying a prohibited drug and breach of bail.
He was refused bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court next month.
