Some local businesses have closed early today due to the heat, but others are battling on despite the conditions.
A cafe in Norwest business park has closed due to extreme heat and construction workers and outdoor staff in the area have been asked to start early and finish early.
The owner of the cafe said he expected business for coffee and hot food to be slow in the heat, so he called it a day early.

But while many outdoor workers took today off because of the heat wave it is a normal working day for Danny Uren, 63, of Blacktown.
He was putting up a garden shed at Prospect when the Sun contacted him at 12.30pm today.
How does he explain his resilience? He came from Darwin and is used to temperatures as high as 40C and humidity.
‘‘I started at 7.30am and will be here until 7pm today,’’ he said.
‘‘I was doing the concrete work here until 8pm yesterday.
Mr Uren said he did not find it a problem working outdoor in today’s weather.
‘‘Of course, I wouldn’t mind not working but I and lot of people like me have to work to survive.’’
Mr Uren is a jack of all trades, he mows the lawn, does landscaping, putting up garden shed and fences.
