Parramatta Eels plan to ramp up membership drive

LET’S get thing one straight; Scott Seward is in.

Now he has one question for the community — are you?

The new Parramatta Eels general manager of membership and fan engagement is the man responsible to get the Parramatta Eels to their target of 20,000 members for the 2013 season.

But he’s in for a lot more than that.

‘‘It’s not my intention to get us to 20,000 members it’s my intention to get us a lot further than that,’’ Seward said.

‘‘We have one of the biggest supporter bases in the leagues — more than half a million supporters — but we need to transform that into a membership base that reflects that and at the moment we don’t.

‘‘Last year we had 12,000 members and the big thing for us is to build the right foundation so that in three years we can have 40,000 members.’’

Seward said there are a range of memberships packages to suit all budgets, from the Sparky junior Eels option that costs $45 to the platinum membership that will set you back $1060.

He also spruiked the payment plan where members can split their payments over 12 months.

‘‘We are currently on track to to reach 10,000 members by Christmas which is a good start but there is a lot more work to do. It is widely regarded we have the best fans in the league, now it is time for us to have the best membership in the league,’’ he said.

‘‘I think it’s important for people to understand when you become a member you make a commitment to the club which means we can reinvest back into the club to ensure we have the best facilities to compete with the other teams in the league.’’
