THE largest St Vincent de Paul Society charity store in western Sydney will open in Parramatta this Saturday, December 15.
Located at 583 Church Street, North Parramatta, the store has more than 200 pieces of furniture, 3000 books, 5000 items of clothing and 300 pairs of shoes.
Retail operations manager for the St Vincent de Paul Society Parramatta central council, Phillip Basti (pictured), said there were some great gift ideas for those who hadn't finished their Christmas shopping, and said people would be surprised by what they could find at Vinnies.
"The brands and things you can get in the likes of David Jones or Myer, they get donated to us," Mr Basti said.
"People can clean out their wardrobes every season, so if you go hunting through the racks, you'll get here what you get in some of those other shops."
He also said people's attitudes towards shopping at charity stores had changed.
"The average household shops in here now," he said.
"It's acceptable for anyone to shop at a charity store."
But Mr Basti, says shopping at Vinnies is about more than just finding a bargain, as the money goes back into the community.
There will be goody bags for the first 100 customers at the grand opening on Saturday, 9am-4.30pm.
