Sid Dickens has released its latest collection of Memory Blocks called Curiosities — a handmade, limited edition, tile collection.
The company releases an authentic tile collection twice a year.
Managing director of retail group DOMO, Frank Novembre, said the tiles were a popular collectors item.
"They are a big phenomenon," Mr Novembre said. "Every year there are new designs and the existing design is retired. This creates a frenzy every time a new collection is released."
Sid Dickens Memory Blocks are carefully handmade tiles which have been crafted by 30 emerging artists in Canada.
Each Memory Block is hand poured with hydrostone plaster and, once poured, each tile is hand painted and different finishes are applied.
The silver and gold leafing is done by hand, and then, each tile is hand stained.
Each Memory Block is considered to be a work of art as there are more than five people who do the work on each tile.
The hours of work that goes into crafting each Memory Block to perfection makes them an individual collectors item.
"The most interesting thing about them is their design," Mr Novembre said. "They have been designed to look as though they are aged with cracks. You can also mix and match to create various themes."
Unlike other tiles or artworks, Sid Dickens Memory Blocks can be grouped in many different arrangements, shapes or sequences.
They are interchangeable which means that, as your decorating needs, feelings and moods change, so can your display.
Mr Novembre said Sid Dickens Memory Blocks were best displayed in wall-mounted groupings.
"They are best designed into lots of three," he said. "People generally decorate a wall with the blocks."
Sid Dickens Memory Blocks are easy to install as there are no framing or installation costs.
All you need to do is position a tack, screw or nail in the wall and hang the tile.
