Parramatta might have the summer to lament the wins that could have and should have been.
The Two Blues showed what they can be by causing one of the upsets of the season against high-ranking Randwick at a blustery Two Blues Park on Saturday.
Parramatta beat the Galloping Greens 17-10 and remain a mathematical chance of figuring in the Shute Shield rugby union finals series.
But only a mathematical chance.
The Two Blues showed why they should be much more than that by the comprehensive nature of a win not reflected on the scoreboard.
"We played pretty well,'' was phlegmatic coach Gary Ella's understated summation.
"All the points were suprisingly scored against the wind.
"We seem to play well against Randwick and their structured style of play and they fielded seven Super 14 players.''
The Parramatta forwards and midfield were just super, however.
Hooker Scott Podmore was everywhere and backs Tom Woods and Davo Alo shut down the Randwick midfield.
"We defended well and took our opportunities,'' Ella said.
"We're hurting at those close losses and showed what we're capable off.
"We showed we can compete with the best and have plenty to build on.''
Steve Mafi, Tito Mua and Paula Kaveinga were the tryscorers and Parramatta can further build against North Sydney this week.
