PARRAMATTA'S mooted move to Castle Hill from Granville could split the 130-year-old rugby union club.
The Two Blues committee has decided on the revolutionary move but is yet to decide whether it should ask members' approval.
Should that happen, the vote is unlikely to be unanimous.
Outgoing Two Blues co-coach Ian Hollins labelled the plan ``a pipe dream''.
``They want to go to a more affluent part of Sydney but they haven't got a ground and they haven't got sponsorship,'' said Hollins, who has resigned from the club after 11 years as player, trainer, then general manager and this year as co-coach.
``The players I've spoken to have said `I'm not going there' and this year's co-coaches Andrew Leeds and Brett Campton aren't keen either.
``If you haven't got money you need volunteers and the club hasn't got money.''
The now-amateur Parramatta completed a depressing season when humbled 100-0 by Randwick in the Shute Shield last Saturday.
It withdrew from the second-grade competition earlier this year and lower-grade players regularly have had to back up because of the lack of numbers.
President Alan Hyam said the Castle Hill move had to be considered.
``We're at the crossroads and we'd be lucky to survive another season like 2009,'' said Hyam, who has returned to the club after being patron through the premiership years in the '70s and '80s.
``We're in discussion with Baulkham Hills Shire Council about two or three grounds.''
He said the other Sydney clubs had complained of conditions at the Two Blues' present home, Granville Park.
``We've got to look at demographics and target those areas where there are potential rugby players,'' he said.
``There's been a population explosion there.
``A big consideration is attracting sponsorship dollars.''
Everyone agrees on one point: Parramatta is still producing representative players and winning teams at junior level.
Those players don't progress to the senior ranks, however.
They go to other wealthy, more successful clubs.
