DESPITE playing strongly, Parramatta threw away a win on Saturday because of passes not taken.
``We've got nothing to say to you,'' was Ian Hollins and his co-coaches' half-time message to the Two Blues in their Shute Shield first-grade rugby union clash with Gordon at Chatswood Oval.
The remark was an indication of how well the coaches thought the Two Blues were travelling.
Parramatta were down 7-5 but by Hollins' estimate, should have been 28-0 up.
They had led 5-0 before a try conceded right on half-time.
``We had made three clean breaks but the passes weren't taken with the defence beaten,'' Hollins said.
In the end, Parramatta were beaten 29-12 largely because of ex-Two Blue, Gordon fullback Dave Harvey.
His mighty left boot kept Parramatta pinned near their line and weight of possession and position told for the third-placed Gordon.
Forwards Scott Podmore and Jeremy Bird were again standouts for the Two Blues, as was five-eighth Areta Lama.
Parramatta could at least measure their improvement by the fact the Highlanders had them by 66 points in the first round.
Parramatta could at least say their strategy was confirmed.
Gordon 29 (Matt McDougall 2, Ed Gower, Lamarn Ma'a tries; Dave Harvey 3 conversions, penalty) def Parramatta 12 (Steve Mafi, Wise Gavidi tries; Aaron Mattin conversion).
