PARRAMATTA hosted Southern Districts on Saturday confident of back-to-back wins in the Shute Shield first-grade rugby union competition.
When the Two Blues trailed by only a point at half-time, those hopes were only 40 minutes from being realised in the mud, wind and rain that provided a forbidding welcome to the visitors.
Instead, it was Southern Districts who gained back-to-back wins, as the visitors ran in five tries to romp home 43-9.
Parramatta's miserable second-half matched the weather.
``Bloody terrible,'' said Two Blues co-coach Ian Hollins of the effort. ``They dropped the ball once and we dropped it 20 times. When we got behind, players became individuals, looking for the miracle play.''
Hollins said that wasn't the whole story, however.
A lot of the heart and passion that Warringah captain Beau Robinson had complimented Parramatta on the week before was absent this time, but not from all individuals.
Tough second-rower Sam Evalu was very good, as was flanker Jeremy Bird, half Aaron Mattin and hooker Scott Podmore.
Parramatta are away to Northern Suburbs this Saturday.
